Nvidia asks video card vendors to give gamers priority over miners
Nvidia asks online stores, at least in Germany, to take precautions when selling video cards, so that cards come into the hands of gamers first and miners do not buy the entire stock. Shops therefore limit sales per customer.
Nvidia told the German site Computerbase that the company puts gamers first and that all activities related to the GeForce product line are aimed at that target group: “In order to ensure that GeForce gamers can enjoy good availability of GeForce video cards in the current situation. continue to enjoy, we recommend that our trading partners take the necessary precautions to meet the needs of gamers.”
Some stores are now limiting the amount of video cards per customer. Caseking, Alternate, MIX and Mindfactory only supply two video cards of the same type per customer. Caseking had already started limiting the quantity per customer to five in the summer, but when inventories continued to decrease, that fell to three and since November that number has risen to two. By the way, the stores have the same policy regarding AMD Radeon cards.
Nvidia and the stores are thus responding to the shortages that have arisen due to the massive purchase of video cards for mining cryptocurrencies. The prices of video cards have risen significantly as a result, an inventory last week showed.
