Nvidia has announced two new video cards in the Quadro series, the M5000 and the M4000, at the Siggraph 2015 fair. The video cards are based on the second generation of the Maxwell architecture. In addition, Nvidia also announced DesignWorks.

Nvidia has not yet released all information about the new video cards; in all likelihood they are both based on the Maxwell 2 architecture, Anandtech reports. The M5000 offers 2048 Cuda cores and the M4000 a total of 1664 cores. Both cards are equipped with 8GB GDDR5 RAM running at 6.6Ghz, which communicates via a 256bit bus.

The new video cards will be placed in the Quadro series under the M6000, which was announced in March. Just like the M6000, the M5000 takes up two slots, the card has a TDP of 150W. However, the M4000 only occupies a single slot and has a TDP of 125W.

Nvidia also announced DesignWorks at the Siggraph fair. Under this new brand name, Nvidia has gathered its tools for graphics professionals such as Iray and Optix. With the introduction of DesignWorks, Nvidia has also released a number of new tools. For example, Nvidia has made available vMaterials, a collection of materials that can be used in applications that use Nvidia’s Material Design Language.
