Nubia X smartphone has ‘invisible’ screen on the back and no front camera

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Nubia has announced a phone without a front camera, so that the LCD covers almost the entire front. The device has an OLED screen on the back, so that selfies can still be taken.

It is striking that the screen on the back of the Nubia X is hardly visible when it is turned off. In the product photos of Nubia itself it is impossible to see where the second screen ends and starts in a hands-on video, the screen is only visible when it is on. The phone in the video has a blue glass back.

The screen on the back consists of a 5.1″ OLED panel with a resolution of 1520×720 pixels. On the front of the Nubia X is a 6.26″ LCD with a resolution of 2280×1080 pixels. The screen edges on the side are each 2.6 mm wide and the edges above and below are good for 10.4 mm. The device is 8.4 mm thick and weighs 181 grams. The Nubia X has two cameras on the back, with resolutions of 16 and 24 megapixels and lenses with apertures of f/1.8 and f/1.7.

The Nubia X contains a Snapdragon 845-soc, 6GB or 8GB ram, 64, 128 or 256GB flash storage and a 3800mAh battery. Nubia equips the device with Android 8.1 and its own shell. Nubia is a Chinese brand, which used to be part of ZTE. As far as we know, the device only appears in China. The cheapest version costs 3299 yuan, converted 417 euros.
