Nubia makes lighter and thinner variant of RedMagic 6 gaming smartphone

Nubia introduces the RedMagic 6R, a lighter and thinner variant of the RedMagic 6 and 6 Pro. The new model is 7.8 mm thin and weighs about 186 grams. This is partly due to the use of a 4200mAh battery instead of a 5050mAh one.

The RedMagic 6 and 6 Pro, which have been on sale in Europe since April, have a 9.7mm thick housing and a weight of 220 grams. The RedMagic 6R is thinner and lighter due to the use of a smaller battery and also a slightly smaller screen. The new model has a 6.67-inch OLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate. The previously released models have a 6.8-inch screen with a 165Hz refresh rate.

Furthermore, the RedMagic 6R is largely the same as the RedMagic 6 and 6 Pro. The device has capacitive shoulder buttons, has a Snapdragon 888-soc and can be supplied with 8 or 12GB Lpddr5 memory and 128 or 256GB UFS 3.1 flash storage. The 6R model has an additional camera and uses a Sony sensor for the primary camera instead of a Samsung sensor.

At the beginning of June, Nubia will release the RedMagic 6R worldwide, but the euro prices have not yet been announced. First, the Android phone appears in China; the versions with 8 and 12 GB of ram cost there respectively 2999 and 3299 yuan. Converted that is about 385 and 424 euros. The final euro prices of the international version are presumably higher, but the RedMagic 6R will probably be cheaper than the regular RedMagic 6 and 6 Pro. This is also the case in China.
