Nothing shows first screenshots of Android skin for first smartphone
The start-up electronics company Nothing from OnePlus founder Carl Pei has shown the first screenshots of its Nothing OS, a skin for Android. The manufacturer wants to release its first smartphone in the summer. Nothing has been selling bluetooth earbuds since last year.
The phone will be called phone(1), as it turns out on the home page of Nothing. The manufacturer has only shown some screenshots of the skin over Android for the phone, but does not yet show anything about the design of the smartphone itself. It is a device with Qualcomm Snapdragon-soc, according to the logo on the page. The manufacturer held Wednesday a live stream to talk about the device for the first time.
The screenshots show a dark skin with white accents in the interface. What should distinguish the skin from other Android releases is still unknown. Nothing OS launcher will be released next month. The phone itself would have LED strips on the back, but the purpose for this is also unclear for the time being. The phone will be released in the summer.
Nothing is the new company of OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei. He left OnePlus in the fall of 2020, presumably because of dissatisfaction with the strategy pursued. He co-founded OnePlus with Pete Lau in 2013 as a sister company of OPPO. Both came from OPPO. Nothing is not part of a conglomerate. The company released its first product last year, the ear(1) earbuds with a transparent design.
