Nothing postpones presentation of Ear 1 earplugs until July 27
Nothing, the new company of OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, will present its wireless Ear 1 earbuds on July 27. That’s a month later than planned; Pei previously reported that the earplugs would be released in June.
Nothing announced on Twitter on Tuesday that the company is holding a ‘Sound of Change’ event on July 27, where the company’s first product will be shown. That presentation will take place at 3 p.m. Dutch time. Carl Pei tweeted earlier this month that the company had to postpone the announcement of the Ear 1 earplugs because there were “a few things to finalize”. He then reported that the earplugs are now planned for ‘later this summer’.
Furthermore, Pei and the company have little to say about the upcoming earplugs. The company previously reported that the Ear 1 earplugs will have a ‘stripped-down’ design with transparent materials. In addition, Nothing published a teaser image showing in-ear earplugs with an oblique ‘pill shape’, with a vertical element hanging below. There is no mention of technical specifications yet.
Carl Pei left OnePlus in October last year and announced Nothing in January . With that company, Pei says he wants to make ‘smart devices’. He also indicated that Nothing will release products in different categories to eventually arrive at an ecosystem of devices. The company is starting with the upcoming wireless earbuds.
