NOS was struggling with a DDoS attack
The NOS faced a malfunction on its website and mobile applications on Sunday morning. The cause of the problems appears to be a ddos attack. Public broadcasting services are now easily accessible again.
The malfunction was initially reported on the NOS Twitter account, but no cause was reported at the time. About an hour and a half later the problems were solved. After investigation, it appears that a ddos attack was the cause of the problems, which made both the site and the mobile applications of the NOS difficult to access. Incidentally, other websites of the Public Broadcasting were also difficult to reach.
The NOS has taken measures to counter the consequences of the DDOs attack. On its website, the public broadcaster states that ‘some systems have been modified’. What that means is not further explained. It is clear that the NOS website and apps are accessible again, which indicates that the measures have helped. Whether the ddos is still going on left the NOS in the middle.
