Nokia releases its first smart TV in India

The Finnish manufacturer Nokia is releasing a television in India. It is a smart TV with Android 9.0 and a 55″ LCD with 4k resolution. The TV has built-in speakers from JBL. Sales start next week.

It is the first time that Nokia has released a smart TV. The Finnish manufacturer sells the television through Flipkart, a large online store in India. The television measures 1234.6x739x98mm and has a 55″ LCD. According to Nokia, this LCD has a maximum brightness of 400cd/m² and a contrast ratio of 1200:1.

Nokia has put a quad-core soc in the housing, with four ARM Cortex A53 processor cores at 1GHz and a Mali 450 GPU. The RAM is 2.25 GB and the TV has a local storage of 16 GB. According to the manufacturer, the TV runs on ‘Android 9.0’, presumably Android TV 9.0, and has access to voice control via Google Assistant. The sound comes from two 24W speakers with the JBL brand name on them.

Nokia will release the TV from next week for rupees 41,990. Converted that is currently about 530 euros. The Finnish manufacturer is not the only new player in the Indian TV market with a history in the smartphone market. OnePlus also released its first smart TV this fall.
