Nokia files word mark application for personal assistant Viki
Nokia filed a word mark application with the European Union Intellectual Property Office last week. In it, it seems to describe a virtual assistant called ‘Viki’, suggesting plans around such software.
A word mark is a trademark, but in the form of a word. In the document, noting GsmInfo, Nokia describes Viki as “software for creating and monitoring mobile and web-based digital assistants that work with knowledge” and “combining all data sources in a single chat and voice interface.” Nokia submitted the application, which also includes Viki as its name, on January 6.
The description of the service seems to indicate that it is a virtual assistant, which can already be found with other brands, such as Microsoft Cortana, Apple Siri, Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. It is unclear how Nokia will offer the assistant.
The Finnish company HMD will sell phones under the Nokia brand. HMD announced the first Nokia smartphone on Sunday. The device with 5.5 “lcd runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430-soc, has Android Nougat on board and will be released in China.
