A slide from a presentation that Nokia gave to investors this week confirms that smartphones under this brand name should be released again in 2017. The rights to the Nokia brand name were acquired earlier this year by the company HMD.

The presentation, which was noted by the Nokia Poweruser site, shows that “Nokia brand’s return to smartphones” is planned for the year 2017, or “the return of the Nokia brand to smartphones”. However, the presentation does not provide any other information than that.

HMD, the company that bought the Nokia trademark rights from Microsoft in May, announced at the time that it plans to invest approximately half a billion dollars in marketing products under the Nokia name over the next three years. In addition to HMD, FIH Mobile obtained the rights to use the name, which company is a subsidiary of Taiwanese Foxconn.
