‘Nokia C7 becomes second device with Symbian^3’
The Nokia C7 will be the second device from the Finnish manufacturer to be equipped with Symbian^3. This is evident from a preview of the unannounced device published by a Russian blogger. The device will be similar to the N8.
Nokia equips the C7 with a 3.5″ AMOLED screen with a resolution of 640×360 pixels, so turns out from the preview of Mobile-Review. The working memory has a size of 256MB and is therefore equal to that of the top model N8. In addition, Nokia has added 802.11n WiFi and bluetooth 3.0, something that is also on the N8. The new bluetooth allows higher speeds for data transfer. In a practical test by the Russian site, the phone achieved a transfer speed of 10Mbps with bluetooth. The camera has a maximum resolution of eight megapixels.
Like the N8, the C7-00, as the device’s model number reads, runs on Symbian^3, the first open source version of the Symbian OS. The smartphone should be released this fall and will have a lower price than the N8. It is unclear when the Finnish manufacturer will officially present the device.
Nor is it clear whether Mobile-Review’s editor-in-chief, Eldar Murtazin, is at risk from publishing this preview. After writing an article stating he had an N8 before it was announced, Nokia raided it for possessing products that are still trade secrets. Murtazin countered the accusation by saying that he does not own the devices, but is on loan. He never revealed his sources.
Update 10:49: Initially, the article stated that the C7 will be the first Nokia device with bluetooth 3.0. However, that is not true: the N8 also has bluetooth 3.0.
