Microsoft says 50 million Lumias have been activated in three years. This means that the number of activated Lumias is lower than the number of Lumias that Nokia and Microsoft have delivered in the past three years.

According to WMPoweruser, Microsoft does not state how many of those Lumias are still active, but there are probably fewer: many people who bought a Lumia with Windows Phone 7.5 in the early days, will have purchased a new device by now.

With 50 million, the number of activated Lumias is lower than the number of Lumias delivered: Nokia and from this spring Microsoft delivered around 67 million Lumia devices according to the quarterly figures of the past three years. A significant part of it has therefore not been activated. What happened to those devices is unknown, but presumably consumers and businesses have not bought them or have put them into use yet. Nokia started selling its Lumia line in mid-November 2011, about three years ago.

The number of apps in the Windows Phone Store is still growing, according to the figures that Microsoft gave together with the number of activated Lumias. The number of apps is now at 320,000, 20,000 more than the figure Microsoft gave in August.
