No Man’s Sky gets free expansion where players go on an expedition together
The game No Man’s Sky gets a new free update: Expeditions. The expansion adds a new game mode, a new hud and UI, and several quality of life improvements. In the new game mode, players must work together to earn time-limited rewards.
In Expeditions, players all start on the same planet and then go on expeditions to other planets together. Each quarter, a new expedition launches, sending players on their way across the universe from a fixed point, featuring a completely new and random character. The community must work together to unlock a series of rewards and discover new planets. The length of each expedition is different, but they are time-bound. After that time, milestones and rewards can no longer be unlocked.
The expansion comes with renewed spaceships. The game will also receive Twitch Drop support with unique in-game rewards for players who watch No Man’s Sky on Twitch, such as unique character outfits, emotes, space base parts, starship decorations, unique ships and multi-tools. In addition, the expansion includes an expedition planner and new enemies, including Titanfall Walkers. The missions that players receive from mission agents on board space stations have also been renewed.
In addition, with the expansion, the game gets some quality improvements. For example, the galaxy map gets a mode for people who are colorblind, text chat and pinning are improved and sentinels are rebalanced. And every weekend there are unique weekend event missions. Also, from Space Anomaly, players can switch between spaceships with a shortcut menu and recipes have been rebalanced so that the game is less of a grind.
No Man’s Sky came out in 2016. Initially, the game was not well received, but since then developer Hello Games has improved the game considerably. For example, a Companion update was recently announced that allows players to tame pets.
