No Man’s Sky creator Hello Games is working on ‘ambitious’ new game
No Man’s Sky developer Hello Games has started its next big project. Director Sean Murray said in an interview with IGN. The project will not be a sequel to NMS, but is just as ambitious, according to the CEO.
“We’ve been working on something quite ambitious in the background for a while. It’s a small team, but we like it that way”, Murray tells IGN. “Like No Man’s Sky, it’s one of those projects that even if it had a thousand people working on it, it would still seem impossible.”
Further details about the new game are not yet known. According to Murray, the game has been in a ‘very early’ development stage since September last year, but Murray says that No Man’s Sky will continue to receive updates for the time being. “No Man’s Sky won’t be slowed down by the next project, but the new thing won’t be slowed down by No Man’s Sky either,” he says. “We’re lucky enough to be able to let people move freely to work on what excites them.”
It is not the first time that Hello Games has expressed great ambitions. No Man’s Sky came out in 2016 and before its release, Sean Murray made a lot of promises that were not fulfilled when it was released. In the years since its release, that game has been completely overhauled by free updates and No Man’s Sky is still popular today. Yesterday Hello Games came out with a free Outlaws update that adapts combat in space and adds a new underworld with pirates. Murray says Hello Games has “learned its lesson” after the release of NMS.
