Nintendo Switch users can now download updates when storage is full

Nintendo has released an update for the Switch that makes it possible to download game updates when the storage is full. Old data is then first deleted to make room for the update.

The change is in the Nintendo Switch update with version number 12.1.0. If there is not enough space in the internal memory or the microSD memory card, users can first delete old game data to make room for the new data, Nintendo writes.

Thanks to the update, users no longer have to free up space on their Switch to install updates for games. Users should keep in mind that a game will be temporarily unplayable if data is deleted to free up space for downloading an update.

According to the patch notes, the update also introduces “general stability improvements.” Nintendo does not give specific details about that. The update also includes a firmware update for the Joy-Cons, but the manufacturer says nothing about it.
