Nintendo shows new gameplay footage of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Nintendo has published a video in which the company shows around ten minutes of new gameplay footage from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This game will be the successor to Breath of the Wild from 2017.
The video is presented by Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma. He also provides the gameplay demonstration with comments and explanations here and there. The images show, among other things, which new skills Link has at his disposal in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
What is striking, among other things, is that the game world has changed compared to that in Breath of the Wild. For example, there are landmasses that float in the air and can be reached in several ways. The video shows one way, namely a falling rock. By climbing on it and turning back time using the Recall skill, the rock goes back up and you can enter the island floating in the air.
In addition, mountains and hills no longer always have to be climbed. If there is a cave, the player can enter it and use the Ascent ability to jump through the ceiling and land on top of the mountain.
Furthermore, it is possible to stick weapons and objects together via the Fuse skill, after which they perform better. For example, a rock can be attached to a club to cause more damage. Enemies can also wield such weapons. There is also an Ultrahand skill to create some kind of vehicles. The video shows this by attaching tree trunks together and adding two fans to create a kind of speedboat or hovercraft.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom releases on May 12 for the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo announced the arrival of this game in 2019 and shared gameplay images for the first time in 2021.
