Nintendo shows first Metroid Prime 4 gameplay and confirms 2025 release
Nintendo has shared the first gameplay footage of Metroid Prime 4. The company confirms that the game will be launched on the market in 2025. It is the first time in years that concrete details about Metroid Prime 4 have been shared, after development of that game was restarted in 2019.
Metroid Prime 4 will be subtitled 'Beyond', Nintendo confirmed during its Direct presentation. The game once again follows the intergalactic bounty hunter Samus Aran on a new adventure, although Nintendo shares few concrete details about the story. The trailer does show images of a planet being explored and aliens being fought.
Metroid Prime 4 was announced in 2017, although only a logo was shown. However, in 2019, Nintendo announced that the development process had restarted because the initial results did not meet the company's quality standards. It was announced that Retro Studios, the developer behind the original Metroid Prime games, had taken over development.
There has been radio silence surrounding the game since then, although other Metroid games have been released in the meantime, such as Metroid Dread. Now Nintendo confirms that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will be released for the Nintendo Switch in 2025. A more specific date has not yet been announced.
