Nintendo seems to start banning flashcard users for 3DS
A number of users of a Nintendo 3DS in combination with a flashcard report that they have been banned by the Japanese company. It would concern a limited number of players who will be banned under certain circumstances.
The first reports appeared on the GBAtemp forum from 4 February and at least fourteen cases have now been reported. All gamers used a Sky3DS or Gateway flashcard, which makes it possible to play game backups from an SD card. It seems that the ban started after the release of system update 9.5 for the portable console, but not every user of the affected flashcards has been banned.
Banned users will see error code 002-0102 and will no longer be able to go online. With Pokemon, Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart 7, among others, Nintendo could detect that players go online in-game with a flashcard.
There are reports that Nintendo Japan has confirmed the start of the ban, but this appears to be a claim from a Chinese user. There is no official confirmation yet.
