Nintendo releases new characters for Super Smash Bros.

Nintendo will add the character Mewtwo to Super Smash Bros. on April 28. for Wii U and in June a character from a successor to Earthbound that was released in Japan will follow. Nintendo announced many updates, including regarding Amiibo’s.

Nintendo previously announced that Pokémon’s Mewtwo will come to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, and now it’s clear it’s due on April 28th. From that date, Mewtwo is for sale for 3.99 euros. Players who have purchased and registered both versions of the game before March 31st will receive the download codes for Mewtwo at no additional cost on April 15th. In June, the new character Lucas will be released from the game Mother3, which is a sequel to Earthbound that was only released in Japan. There are also new outfits and Nintendo lets players vote for newly added characters.

During its Direct presentation, Nintendo also announced that two new Amiibo will be added to the Super Smash Bros. collection in May: Greninja and Jigglypuff. Palutena, Dark Pit, Zero Suit Samus and Ganondorf then appear in June, while a month later Olimar, Dr. Mario and Bowser Jr. come onto the shelves. Coinciding with Yoshi’s Woolly World on June 26, a new set of Yoshi amiibo figures, which appear to be knitted from wool, will be released on May 29, and Splatoon Amiibos will unlock special missions in that paint-shooter.

Furthermore, Mario Maker will arrive on Wii U in September. This game will allow players to build their own classic Mario levels. Retro game enthusiasts can now bring Nintendo 64 and Nintendo DS games to Wii U via the Wii virtual console. First up are Mario Kart DS and WarioWare Touched! and the Nintendo 64 games Super Mario 64 and Donkey Kong 64 available. Paper Mario and Yoshi’s Island DS will follow later. Nintendo allows combining TV and GamePad to play on two screens and also the buttons can .

A new Animal Crossing title will be released for the 3DS in the fall: Happy Home Designer and Nintendo is also working on a new game under the working title Fire Emblem, which has two storylines. Finally, on May 15, the turn-based strategy shooter Code Name: STEAM will be released for the 3DS.
