Nintendo Postpones Super Mario Bros. Movie Until Spring Next Year
The Super Mario Bros. film, with the voice of actor Chris Pratt, among others, will not be released in December this year, as was planned, but in the spring of 2023, Nintendo has announced Shigeru Miyamoto.
Miyamoto, producer and game director at Nintendo, reports that he has spoken with the American animation studio Illumination and has decided to postpone the Super Mario Bros. movie. It should now be released worldwide next spring, April 7 in North America and April 28 in Japan. Miyamoto did not mention a reason for the delay.
The animated film Super Mario Bros. has been in the works since 2017. The film is produced by Illumination, the company that was responsible for the Despicable Me films and The Lorax, among others. Actor Chris Pratt voices Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy voices Princess Peach, Jack Black voices Bowser, and Seth Rogen does Donkey Kong.
