The release date of Mario Kart Tour, a mobile version of Mario Kart, has been pushed to the summer. Initially, Nintendo wanted to release it by March, but the developer was “not happy with the quality of the app and the content yet.”

Nintendo’s latest quarterly earnings report states that the company originally planned to release Mario Kart Tour in this fiscal year, which ends March 31. However, the company says it wants to offer more “content” first when the game is out and improve the quality of the app. There is currently no new, concrete release date known, but the mobile game will be released in the summer. Mario Kart Tour became last year in february announced; since then there has been hardly any communication about the game from Nintendo.

Since 2015, Nintendo has released some mobile games: Miitomo, Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and Dragalia Lost. Support for the former was discontinued in May 2018. Reportedly, the developer is also working on a Zelda game for smartphones and tablets, but no official announcement has yet been made.

The quarterly figures show that Nintendo earned 33.4 billion yen from mobile games during the past nine months. That is converted almost 268 million euros and is an increase of 14.7 percent compared to 2017. The company sold twice as many games for the Nintendo Switch during the past quarter and delivered thirty percent more Switch consoles.
