Nintendo is ending support for social medium X on Nintendo Switch
Nintendo will stop integrating functions of the social medium X for the Nintendo Switch. Users can no longer share screenshots and other content directly via the former Twitter.
With the introduction of Switch update version 18.1.0, it is no longer possible to share content directly on X. The link with the platform via the Friend Suggestions menu is also no longer supported. Nintendo already announced the end of X support earlier this year. The company warns that Facebook integration for the Switch may also be stopped at a later date.
The Japanese gaming giant does not give a reason for ending X support on the Switch. After the takeover of the platform by Elon Musk, Xbox and PlayStation also stopped supporting social functions for the social medium. According to Wired this had to do with the increased API costs introduced by Musk. It would cost a company up to $42,000 per month to continue using these features.
