Nintendo introduces Miis chat app for iOS
Nintendo has unveiled its first app for iOS. Miitomo will be released in March 2016 and is an app that allows users’ Miis to chat with each other to provide an icebreaker in real chat conversations.
Users create a Mii in the Miitomo app just like on Wii consoles, after which friends’ Miis can chat with each other independently of the owners. According to Nintendo, users will then discover unexpected sides of friends, which can be an icebreaker in regular chat conversations, which can also take place in the app.
The appearance of the app is characterized by a cartoon-like style. The chat application with Miis will be released for iOS in March 2016 and is the first in a series of mobile applications from the Japanese manufacturer. Four more Nintendo apps are yet to be released within a year of release. The Japanese game maker aims to bring more people into contact with Nintendo’s ‘intellectual property’, which includes characters such as Mario and Zelda in addition to Miis. However, Nintendo will not port any known games.
In addition, the manufacturer presented My Nintendo, the system of accounts that Club Nintendo should follow. Users can earn points in My Nintendo by playing games. Club Nintendo ceased to exist earlier this year.
