Nintendo has sold 132 million Switch consoles and sales continue to increase

Nintendo has already sold more than 132 million Switch consoles. The company also announced that it made a profit of 279 billion yen, or 1.741 billion euros, from April to September 2023. That is 27 percent more compared to the same period last year.

As for the hardware, reports Nintendo that 6.84 million Switch consoles were sold between April 1 and September 30. According to the company, this is 2.4 percent more than during the same period last year. 97.08 million Nintendo Switch games were sold in the aforementioned period. That is 1.8 percent more than the 95.41 million copies sold from April to September last year. The Nintendo Switch has been going strong since its release in 2017 132.46 million times over the counter.

Nintendo also discusses specific titles: the company reports that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has sold approximately 19.5 million copies. Pikmin 4 would have sold 2.61 million times. The Super Mario Bros. Movie also contributed to the results, because thanks to the release of that film, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe would also have sold more. That game is said to have sold 3.22 million times between April and September. The game has sold 57.01 million times since its release in 2017.

Nintendo also reports its revenue from intellectual property and mobile games. Compared to last year, these have reportedly increased by 133.3 percent to 55 billion yen, which is approximately 34.2 million euros.

Thanks to the new financial results, Nintendo is adjusting its operating profit expectations upwards for the current fiscal year. Company aim now at 500 billion yen, or 3.1 billion euros, operating profit by March 2024 instead of 450 billion yen, or 2.8 billion euros.
