Nintendo hacker Gary Bowser has been released early
Nintendo hacker Gary Bowser has been released early. In an interview with a YouTuber, Bowser says he still owes Nintendo $10 million and thinks he’s stuck with that for the rest of his life.
Gary Bowser is according to TorrentFreak with early release come. His 40-month prison sentence began in early 2022, but Bowser is now free for good behavior. Bowser is the foreman of Team Xecuter. That is a hacker group that made modchips for Nintendo consoles, including the Switch and 3DS. Such console mods allow players to play illegally downloaded games.
Team Xecuter also made those modchips for the PlayStation and Xbox, but it was the mods for Nintendo that killed the group. In addition to his prison sentence, Bowser settled with Nintendo in 2021 for an amount of ten million dollars. That would be compensation for all lost revenue for the company. Team Xecuter immediately stopped making the mods with that settlement.
Bowser says in now an interview with youtuber Nick Moses that he’s still paying off that settlement. In prison he only paid $ 175 of that, says Bowser in the interview. He expects Nintendo to “take 25 to 30 percent of his income for the rest of his life.”
