Nintendo Creators Program no longer allows live streaming of games
Nintendo no longer allows live streaming of games by participants in its Nintendo Creators Program on YouTube. The company has informed users that their registered account will not allow them to broadcast images via YouTube Live.
Live streams on YouTube are outside the scope of the Nintendo Creators Program, the program rules state. Last weekend, Nintendo notified users of the change. The Nintendo Creators Program started in 2015, to give creators of videos featuring games from the Japanese company the opportunity to get a share of the advertising revenue.
Before then, all ad revenue went to Nintendo, but by registering individual videos, participants could get 60 percent of the ad revenue and registered channels were eligible for 70 percent. Now that live streams are no longer part of the program, according to the Japanese company, YouTube users will be able to broadcast via another channel that is not registered, or unlink their channel from the Creators Program and register videos separately for the program from now on.
It is not clear why Nintendo has made the changes to its affiliate program.
