Nintendo announces save game backup for Switch Online service
Nintendo has revealed more details of its Nintendo Switch Online service, which will launch in September. For example, there will be a function to save save games online and Nintendo will announce the first ten launch titles.
The company announces that the Save Data Cloud Backup feature is available only to users of the online service. The feature would work with ‘most’ games for the Switch, meaning it won’t be available for some games. In April, it emerged that a developer was working on its own save game backup feature on the Switch console. As Nintendo previously announced, its service costs $19.99 per year. There is also a family option for $34.99 per year, which can accommodate up to eight people in total.
Earlier, the company also said that subscribers will have access to a collection of classic NES games. There are twenty at the release of Nintendo Switch Online, of which Nintendo has now announced ten. These are Donkey Kong, Ice Climber, The Legend of Zelda, Mario Bros., Soccer, Super Mario Bros. and Tennis, beyond the already well-known titles Balloon Fight, Dr. Mario and Super Mario Bros. 3.
Nintendo’s online service users can invite each other to games and chat with each other using a separate iOS and Android app.
