Nintendo announces Brain Training with stylus for the Switch
Nintendo will release puzzle game Brain Training for the Switch on December 27. A video posted online by the company indicates that the game comes with a stylus. Brain Training may appear first in Japan and later in other markets.
‘Brain Training for adults with brain training under the supervision of Professor Ryuta Kawashima’, is the full name of the game. It builds on ‘Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain?’ released for the Nintendo DS in 2006. The game again features numerous brain teasers in the form of math problems, number puzzles and other challenges to keep the brain sharp.
The Japanese Nintendo website and the video below show that some puzzles need to be solved with an upcoming stylus. The pen is included with the game, but Eurogamers discovered that the gem will also be available separately from December 27. Also notable about the gameplay is that for certain brain teasers players have to hold the Switch console vertically, like a kind of notebook.
For other puzzles, gamers have to use the Joy-Con controllers, where the infrared sensor can see, for example, how many fingers the player is lifting. In addition, there is a training where two players can compete against each other in the game ‘counting birds’. Finally, the game will offer the Brain Training Mail section to share scores with others and there will be a Global Brain Training Competition where players can compare their results with those of other gamers.
Since Nintendo has announced the new Brain Training game exclusively in Japan, it is possible that the title will first release in that country by the end of this year. It is not yet clear when the title will be released elsewhere.
