Nintendo adds USB wireless headset support to Switch

Firmware version 4.0.0 for Nintendo Switch brings wireless headset support to the console. The function works with headsets with USB dongles, not with the built-in bluetooth support in the Switch.

Nintendo has quietly added support for wireless USB headsets to firmware version 4.0.0, because the company does not write anything about it in the release notes. NintendoLife confirms that the Switch will work with headsets with USB dongles, including those from the PlayStation.

It only concerns headsets that work wirelessly via USB and use 2.4GHz RF for that. Headsets that function via bluetooth cannot be paired with the Switch. Not only do the USB headsets work by plugging the dongle into the dock for the Switch, but the handheld itself can work with wireless headsets via a USB adapter.

Nintendo released firmware version 4.0.0 Thursday. Among other things, the update adds a recording function and options for transferring user data and save games to another Switch to the console.
