Nintendo adds offline modes to Tetris 99 for a fee
Nintendo has released a paid expansion for its free game Tetris 99. The Big Block DLC costs ten euros and adds two offline modes. There is a mode where players compete against 98 bots and there is a Marathon mode.
The CPU battle mode is similar to the existing online mode of Tetris 99, but players will battle 98 bots instead of other players. The Marathon mode is new, in which players have to clear as many rows as possible and set the highest possible score.
Nintendo reports that another offline multiplayer mode will be added to the Big Block DLC later this year. More information about this will be announced shortly. The expansion is available for purchase immediately in the eShop.
In February, Nintendo released Tetris 99 for the Switch. The game is free to play for members of the Nintendo Switch Online service. It’s a kind of battle royale version of the classic block game. In multiplayer mode, players have to survive as long as possible by clearing rows of blocks. In addition, players can attack each other with Garbage Blocks to make it more difficult to create lines.
