Nintendo adds new Fire Emblem character to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Nintendo is adding a new Fire Emblem character to Super Smash Bros. this month. Ultimate. Byleth is the last character from the current Fighter Pass. The fighter will be available from January 28. In addition, Nintendo is announcing a second Fighter Pass.
Byleth is the main character of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, the most recent game in the Fire Emblem series for Nintendo Switch. Players can choose from a male and female form for Byleth. In addition, Byleth can be played in multiple color combinations, and there are variants that resemble the house leaders from Three Houses.
The character has four weapons, each of which strikes in a different direction. The Sword of the Creator is the default weapon, used for upward attacks. The weapon can also function as a whip that allows players to bring in enemies. Aerdbhar is a lance for long range side attacks. Aymr is an ax used for downward attacks. In addition, Byleth has a bow for ‘neutral’ attacks, which can also be used as a melee weapon. The new character is accompanied by the arrival of a new stage: the Garreg Mach Monastery. This arena consists of four areas: a marketplace, a reception hall, a bridge and a cathedral. During a battle, players will gradually switch between these areas.
The new fighter also adds eleven pieces of music from the Fire Emblem series to the game. These will also be heard in the existing Fire Emblem stages. A new spirit board and a Fire Emblem-themed Classic Mode route will also be introduced.
Nintendo also comes with some new costumes for the Mii Fighter. For example, there are two new Mega Man costumes for the Mii Gunner and a Raving Rabbids hat for all Mii variants. In addition, there will be a Cuphead costume for the Mii Gunner and an Altaïr-style costume from Assassin’s Creed for the Mii Sword Fighter. These costumes can be purchased separately for 0.75 cents each and the Cuphead costume comes with an accompanying song.
Byleth will be available January 28 for $6. The character is also in the Fighter Pass. Byleth is the last character in this Fighter Pass, but Nintendo is announcing a second pass at the same time. It can be pre-ordered from January 28th and this time will contain six characters, where the current one contains five. Nintendo also comes with two new Amiibo figures: Dark Samus from Metroid and Richter from Castlevania. These will be in stores from January 17.
