Nikon to release D3500 SLR camera on September 20

Nikon has announced a new entry-level SLR camera. The D3500 is a bit smaller than its two-year-old predecessor and has a longer battery life. The camera will have an introductory price of 539 euros with a kit lens.

Like the D3400, the new Nikon D3500 has an aps-c sized 24.2-megapixel sensor. Nikon has adapted the housing, which is now more compact and comparable to the housing of the D5600. However, the screen on the back is not adjustable as with that model. The camera weighs approximately 415 grams including battery. According to Nikon, it is possible to take 1550 photos on a battery charge. That’s 30 percent more than the D3400, which uses the same battery.

In other respects, the D3500 is similar to its predecessor. The device has an autofocus system with eleven focus points and can film in 1080p resolution with a maximum of 60fps. The D3500 has bluetooth and with the SnapBridge app the camera can be controlled remotely via a tablet or smartphone.

Nikon will release the D3500 on September 20. In combination with an 18-55 mm kit lens, the camera has a suggested retail price of 539 euros. There will also be a kit consisting of the D3500 and an 18-105 mm VR lens, which set has a suggested retail price of 689 euros.

At its introduction, the D3500 is slightly cheaper than its predecessor, which was put on the market two years ago for 599 euros with the 18-55 mm kit lens. However, the old model can now be found at web shops for less than 400 euros.
