Nikon introduces KeyMission 170 and 80 action camera
Following the previously introduced KeyMission 360 action camera, Nikon has announced two new models: the KeyMission 170 and KeyMission 80, where the numbers represent the angle of view.
The Japanese camera manufacturer already showed the KeyMission 360 at the CES in Las Vegas. This camera has an image sensor and lens on both sides to take 360-degree videos and photos with 4k resolution. The camera is waterproof to a depth of 30 meters, although it is not possible to record 360-degree videos underwater due to the refraction of light underwater. On both sides is a 20-megapixel sensor with an f2.0 aperture. Nikon guarantees shock survival from a maximum of two meters high and freeze resistance down to -10 degrees Celsius. Like the other two, the camera has Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity options. The camera was supposed to come out earlier, but due to disappointing software performance, it was postponed until October.
New are the KeyMission 170 and 80. The KeyMission 170 records with an ultra-wide angle of 170 degrees at f2.8 on an 8.3-megapixel sensor. With 4k images, the gem records at a maximum of 30p. The camera also has an electronic image stabilization function, but it does not function at 4k resolutions, but it does at full HD. In that case, the angle of view is reduced, although it is not clear from the message to which angle. On the back, the camera has an LCD screen and three physical buttons. There is room for a microSD card for storage.
The KeyMission 80 is the only one of the three action cameras to have a Nikkor lens. The camera has a 12-megapixel sensor with f2.0 and a built-in flash. The device also features a second rear camera for selfies with f2.2 and a 5-megapixel sensor. The screen has a diagonal of 1.75″. The camera is splash resistant and can withstand some time in shallow water, but cannot be used underwater. The KeyMission 80 is available in both black and silver.
Pricing for Europe has not yet been announced, but the KeyMission 360 will cost $499 in the US. The KeyMission 170 changes hands there for $399 and the KeyMission 80 costs $279.
