Nikon introduces D7500 DSLR with 20.9-megapixel sensor from D500
Nikon has announced the D7500. The SLR camera gets the same 20.9-megapixel sensor as the D500 and, just like that camera, has a 4k film function. The new dslr will be released at the end of June and costs 1499 euros.
In addition to the sensor, the Expeed 5 image processor and the RGB metering sensor with 180,000 pixels are also the same as those of the more expensive Nikon D500. The light sensitivity of the aps-c sensor ranges from 100 to 51,200 iso and that can be expanded to 50 to 1.64 million iso. Like the D500, the D7500 can film in 4k resolution with a maximum bitrate of 144Mbit/s. However, that is not possible with the full sensor; for this, a 1.5x crop is made from the center of the image.
For autofocus, the D7500 uses the same module as the D7200. The system has 51 focus points, 15 of which are cross-sensitive. The shooting speed increases from 6 to 8 fps and the buffer offers space for 50 uncompressed RAW files. With the D7200, 18 raws fit in the buffer. The D500 remains the top model for action photography. This more expensive dslr has a speed of 10 fps and has 153 autofocus points.
The housing of the D7500 is very similar to that of its predecessor, but compared to the D7200, the new camera is slightly lighter and the handgrip has been made a bit deeper. The sealing against dust and moisture has also been improved according to Nikon. The 3.2″ screen is now touch-sensitive and tiltable. A double SD card slot is missing in the D7500; there is room for one SD card.
According to Nikon, the D7500 will be available from the end of June. The separate body has a suggested retail price of 1499 euros. Nikon also markets a kit including AF-S DX 18-105 mm VR lens, for 1799 euros.
