Nikon has announced the D5600 DSLR. Like its predecessor, the camera features a 24-megapixel sensor and a tilting screen with touch controls. Nikon adds its SnapBridge technology to the device and gives the camera a time-lapse function.

Just as it has done with its other recent dslrs, Nikon provides the device with SnapBridge support. This function for connecting the camera to an Android or iOS device uses WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC. While sending files, Wi-Fi is used, but at other times the devices are connected via a low-energy bluetooth connection. It is then still possible to send GPS coordinates from a smartphone to the camera, so that they can be put in photos taken.

While the D5600, like the D5500 and D5300, has an aps-c sized 24-megapixel sensor, the manufacturer may be using a new, improved version. The chip has a sensitivity of 100 to 25,600 ISO and you can shoot at a maximum of 5 fps. The movie function offers up to a full-HD resolution of 1920×1080 pixels at 60, 50, 25 or 24fps.

According to the manufacturer, the Nikon D5600 is slightly smaller and lighter than its predecessor, on the specification sheet the difference in weight between the two models is 5 grams. The new device weighs 415 grams separately and has dimensions of 124x97x70mm.

From November 24, the D5600 is for sale in combination with an AF-P 18-55mm VR lens, for a suggested retail price of 849 euros. There will also be a kit with an 18-105 mm VR lens, for a suggested retail price of 999 euros.
