Camera manufacturer Nikon will release a new lens for its Z-mount mirrorless full-frame cameras in September. It is a prime with a focal length of 85mm and an aperture of f/1.8. The price will be 899 euros.

The Nikkor Z 85mm f/1.8 S has a design consisting of twelve elements in eight groups, as well as two Extra-low Dispersion elements. Furthermore, the lens has nine diaphragm blades and a Nano Crystal Coating that, according to Nikon, should prevent reflections.

The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 0.8m and is sealed to protect against dust and water droplets. Filters of 67mm fit on the 470g lens, which has a diameter of 75mm and a length of 99mm.

Nikon gives the 85 mm f/1.8 a recommended retail price of 899 euros and the lens will be available from September 5. It is the sixth lens specifically suited for the Z mount of the Nikon Z6 and Z7 cameras. Many more Nikkor lenses can be used on these mirrorless full-frame cameras, but they do require an adapter.
