Nikkei: Apple Watch Series 7 production halted due to manufacturing issues
Production of the Apple Watch Series 7 has been temporarily halted. That writes Nikkei. The new, more complex design is said to pose quality issues in production. It is currently unclear when production will restart.
According to sources who spoke to Nikkei journalists, all manufacturers producing the Series 7 are experiencing quality issues. This would be due to the new design, which differs a lot from previous models and is also more complex. The sources state that the Series 7 should contain more components in a housing that is about the same size as the previous models, while the smartwatch should also be waterproof. All this would complicate production.
“Apple and its suppliers are currently working around the clock to address these issues,” said one of the sources. “At the moment we cannot say when mass production will start.”
According to rumors, the Apple Watch Series 7, a better soc, thinner screen bezels and an improved ultrawideband chip. The watch would also have flat edges and be slightly larger than previous models. According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, there will be no blood sugar sensor in the Series 7. After all, that technology would not be ready for a commercial release, according to Gurman.
Apple has not yet planned an event, but the date September 14 is mentioned as a possible day that a presentation will take place. It is likely that the Apple Watch Series 7 will be released in the second half of this year.
