Niantic is making more changes to the mobile games Pokémon Go and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. The changes mean that players no longer have to go outside for the game at all. The measures are being taken because of the coronavirus.

In addition to the Pokémon and Harry Potter games, the changes are also in Ingress, on which both games are based. According to Niantic, the various games will receive multiple updates. This makes it possible to count movements indoors for achievements.

The moves can be linked to Adventure Sync mode. Movements on, for example, a treadmill also count. In Pokémon Go, it will also be possible to conduct raids from a distance with friends. Niantic also writes that it is considering how to flesh out the live events that are sometimes held in the games. Among other things, we are working on a new way to celebrate Pokémon Go Fest. Details on that will follow later.

Niantic had to make changes to its games earlier this month because of the virus. For example, the zones to catch Pokémon in became larger, and Incense Packs became much cheaper. However, that happened during the time when players could still go outside. Since then, the measures have been considerably tightened in many countries and people are no longer allowed to go outside at all, or only to a limited extent.
