Niantic is testing new system for finding nearby Pokémon in update
Niantic has released a new version of the Pokémon Go app for Android and iOS. In addition to some improvements, the company is testing a new system for finding nearby Pokémon. The trial is conducted with a small group of users.
Niantic writes that some variations of the interface can be shown during the trial period. A user on Neogaf posted some screenshots to the forum showing what the new system might look like. For example, the app now also shows at which Pokéstop a certain Pokémon can be found. Separately, an icon would also be shown on the map. However, it is unclear whether this will be the final system.
In addition, Niantic has reintroduced the iOS battery saver mode after fixing some issues surrounding this mode. Players can also change their nickname once and the accuracy of a curveball has been improved. In addition, a bug was fixed where players would not receive the correct amount of XP for different throws. Finally, the app now also shows users a window where they must confirm that they are not driving while playing the game.
