Nexus 4 users have problems with calling after Android 5.0.1 update
Users of the Nexus 4 smartphone have complained about the lack of sound on phone calls. The bug is said to have manifested itself after updating the software to Android 5.0.1. Earlier, with the update to Android 5.0, a problem with SMS was detected.
The problems with phone calls on the Nexus 4 have been reported on the Android forums of Google, among others. Problems with calling have also been identified on GoT. Users state that they cannot hear the other person with both incoming and outgoing telephone calls. Conversely, the person on the other end of the line would not hear anything either. The issues seem to have started after installing the Android 5.0.1 update that was recently rolled out.
According to users, the problem can be temporarily solved by restarting the smartphone. Shortly after, however, the problem reappears. Others say they can make calls again by installing a different dialer app, although this doesn’t seem to work for everyone. The exact cause is not yet known, although some users suggest that the problem is in the CheckinService of the Play Services app that Google uses to update parts of the operating system. It is possible to disable this service, but this requires root access.
Last month, Google released the long-awaited update to Android 5.0. Shortly afterwards, however, problems with texting were reported to customers using the Vodafone network. The Android 5.0.1 update was supposed to fix this problem.
