Nextcloud has rebranded its service as Nextcloud Hub. The new form merges many separate existing functions so that it has to compete better with online services such as Office 365 and Google Drive. Nextcloud Hub will include an integrated word processor for collaborations.

The company will announce the change during a presentation. All new functions are now also available on the website. The new Hub tool seems more business-oriented than before. The company wants all features that were initially available as separate apps in Nextcloud all in one overview and can be used immediately. Among other things, the company has partnered with OnlyOffice to let users collaborate on documents in real time. It includes support for Microsoft Office files without the need for a special container. The traditional file storage with which Nextcloud became known is also being expanded. Added to this are so-called ‘Workspaces’, which allow users to manage various projects via notes and to-do lists.

Other parts of Nextcloud such as the chat function, and the e-mail and calendar feature are now all incorporated in the Hub. In addition, the apps have been given some new features. For example, the e-mail service has become smarter and can automatically place booking confirmations in the calendar, for example. Nextcloud has also added a new photo gallery where users can view all their images at once.
