The next Witcher game is a single player RPG and will be ready in four or five years. That can be deduced from statements by the CEO of development studio CD Projekt Red. He says a team from the studio will be working on the RPG after the release of Cyberpunk 2077.

CEO Adam Kiciński does not specifically say in the interview with Polish site Stooq that the new project is a Witcher game, but he indicates in the same interview that the studio is only working on games in the universe of The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077. He also says that the studio’s projects always last four or five years and that there is no deviation from that.

‘A relatively clear concept’ has already been made for the new single-player RPG and that will be further developed. Right after Cyberpunk 2077 comes out on September 17, a team gets to work on the new game. That team is currently the smallest of the studio’s three teams.

A second team will be working on expansions for Cyberpunk 2077. According to the CEO, there will be “no less” than for The Witcher 3. That game received two major paid single-player expansions after release, adding dozens of hours of gameplay.

The third team is working on the multiplayer for Cyberpunk 2077. The CEO emphasizes that that game form will only come after the expansions for the game are ready. Earlier, the studio indicated that multiplayer will probably only come after 2021.

According to Kiciński, everything is on track for the planned release of Cyberpunk 2077 in September. The game was supposed to be released in April, but that was postponed. The studio has since sent an early version of the game to agencies that give age ratings to games.
