An unannounced Sony Xperia smartphone no longer has a 3.5mm jack. Unlike many competitors, Sony seems to want to provide a dongle with which it is possible to listen to music and charge the device at the same time.

The smartphone leans on the USB-C port for audio and charging, the report of the American inspection agency FCC states. Moreover, in the place where traditionally with Xperia’s the 3.5 mm connection is, with this device the SIM card tray, notes XperiaBlog. It would be the first Sony smartphone without a 3.5mm jack in years.

The device is 152.8×72.4mm in size, with a screen that has a diagonal of almost 5.71″. This makes it almost inevitable that the phone has a screen that is longer than the 16:9 ratio of Xperia smartphones. Presumably it is an 18:9 display, as many smartphones of recent months have.

Earlier there were rumors about an upcoming high-end device from Sony, which would have an OLED screen with a resolution of 4k. Until now, no smartphones have appeared with an OLED screen with that resolution, but Sony has already made LCD panels with 3840×2160 pixels for its Xperia XZ Premium, among other things.
