Next Destiny expansion coming in September
The next major expansion pack for the shooter Destiny will be released on September 15th and is called The Taken King. This would appear from marketing material that the American website Kotaku would have received from a tipster on Monday evening.
According to Kotaku, the content pack called The Taken King will introduce three new subclasses for each of the three main classes in the game, among other things. The Warlocks, Hunters and Titans are also equipped with a new ‘super ability’, or a special attack. In addition, the DLC pack adds new missions, Strike missions, and PvP maps to Destiny. The game is also expanded with a new raid. In that raid, players will face Oryx, Crota’s father, who was the main enemy in the raid of Destiny’s first expansion pack.
It is not the first time that the name of the upcoming content pack has been leaked. Previously, ‘The Taken King’ was accidentally featured in a Red Bull advertisement. The name also came up in a previously leaked image that would show the content planning of development studio Bungie for Destiny in its entirety. Later it turned out that the timing of the content packages is no longer up-to-date, but the overview is correct for the time being.
The Taken King should be released on September 15, and the package will cost $40 in the United States. A price in euros is not yet known. Activision is expected to show new content for Destiny during the E3 games fair, which will be held next week in the American city of Los Angeles. Although the publisher has not yet confirmed that, it seems obvious that The Taken King will be officially unveiled there.
