New Windows 10 build offers customizable start menu and redesigned icons

Microsoft has released a new build of Windows 10, numbered 10130. From this version it is possible to customize the start menu, so that it can be displayed in full screen, among other things. Furthermore, the design of the icons has been adjusted.

The innovations that build 10130 brings are explained by Microsoft on its blog. In the settings, users can now choose modifications to the start menu. This makes it possible, among other things, to display the start menu in full screen, something that should probably provide a similar interface as is now common with Windows 8.x. There are also a number of new settings for the start menu.

The icons in Windows are also new: Microsoft has provided them with a new design, which should better match the design language that the company has in mind. The lists in the taskbar have also been slightly modified to better match the rest of the Windows interface.

There are also a number of smaller improvements, including for the Edge browser and for Continuum; the latter is software to be able to use the full version of Windows 10 when a smartphone or tablet is connected to an external display. In build 10130 there is also a shortcut to Cortana: pressing the Windows button and the c key at the same time opens the software.

According to Microsoft, there are still a number of bugs in build 10130. For example, the Mail application can sometimes crash and it is not always possible to set up a WiFi connection. Those bugs will be fixed in a future release, or via Windows Update.
