‘New Ubisoft shooter combines Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon and The Division’

Ubisoft is said to be working on a multiplayer shooter that will combine Tom Clancy franchises Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon and The Division. It would be a game for consoles and PC, which is still in an early stage of development.

appeared on Sunday images of a new Ubisoft game codenamed BattleCat on Twitter. According to Zer0Bytes, who posted the images, it is a mash-up of Splinter Cell, Breakpoint and Division and tests started in January.

VideoGameChronicles has heard from anonymous sources that that information is correct and that it is a first-person shooter for consoles and PC. The project is said to be in an early stage of development and Ubisoft would not show the title during its E3 presentation next Saturday night.

The images show characters from the three different Tom Clancy’s series. It would be playable characters in the game. Each character gains unique traits; for example stealth, extra armor or divine intervention. The latter can prevent fellow players from dying for a limited time. In the descriptions there are two game modes: Escort and Ringleader.

This is not the first time that Ubisoft has combined various Tom Clancy themes in one game. The publisher already did that with Elite Squad, a free-to-play game for smartphones. In it, players must assemble a team of characters from Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon, among others.

The BattleCat project may also be a free-to-play game. Ubisoft has announced that it will be offering “high quality” free games on all platforms. Last month, the publisher announced that Heartlands, the next game in The Division series, will be a free-to-play game.
