New test version Windows 10 can run Edge in container
Microsoft has released a new test version of Windows 10 for Insiders in the Fast Ring. The Enterprise version has added the option to run Microsoft Edge in an ‘Application Guard’ for secure internet sessions. In addition, Edge has gained more options for PDFs.
Microsoft has released Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16188 for testers in the Fast Ring. In this release, users can enable the Windows Defender Application Guard. Next, Edge is given the option to open Application Guard windows: the browser then runs in a container, for which Microsoft uses its Hyper-V virtualization.
The internet session takes place completely isolated from the rest of the system and the network, which greatly increases security. When closing the container, all traces disappear automatically. Microsoft reports that the option only works with Windows 10 Enterprise Edition with Hyper-V for now.
Edge has also gained the ability to fill out PDF forms and users can now annotate PDF documents. The navigation options for PDFs have also been expanded. Furthermore, the assistant Cortana has its own section in the settings and the icon for the Windows Insider Program has been changed to a Ninjacat. Finally, the Magnifier settings have been expanded so that visually impaired people have more options for magnifying and zooming in.
