New Super Lucky’s Tale is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4

New Super Lucky’s Tale is also coming to Xbox One and PS4 after the game hit Nintendo Switch last November. The platform game is an updated version of Super Lucky’s Tale for the Switch.

Playful Studios says on Twitter that New Super Lucky’s Tale will be released soon on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, although no release date is mentioned yet. New Super Lucky’s Tale is based on Super Lucky’s Tale, though the new title according to the developer Rebuilt from the ground up, with new levels, an expanded story, a full rotating camera, better controls and other improvements.

“It’s basically a new game,” Playful Studios says. That means New Super Lucky’s Tale won’t come in the form of an update or patch for those who already own Super Lucky’s Tale on Xbox One. At the end of 2017, Super Lucky’s Tale came out for the Xbox One and later the title also came to Windows. The first game in the series was Lucky’s Tale and was created specifically for the Oculus Rift VR headset.

The American developer announced at the beginning of this year that it had laid off a “significant part” of its staff. According to the company, this was necessary due to permanent changes in the game market, which would involve a new way of production. It was not disclosed exactly how many people were fired. Around that time, Stephen Dupree also left Playful; he spent about two years working on Super Lucky’s Tale, before returning to Retro Studios, the developer of the Metroid Prime series and several Donkey Kong games.
