New Mummy game only coming to PS2, Wii and DS
The English developer Eurocom is working for publisher Sierra on The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, after the third part of the film series of the same name. The game will only be available on Playstation 2, Wii and DS.
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor will be a third person action game that roughly follows the story of the movie. Both main character Rick O’Connell, played by Brendan Fraser in the film, and his son Alex are playable characters. As in the movie, a battle against the Dragon Emperor, played by Jet Li, ensues. It is not yet known whether the various actors lent their voices for the game. The game takes place in the same locations as the film, so battles mainly take place in ancient Chinese temples, but also in grand outdoor locations such as the Himalayas. Players can alternate gunfights with fistfights and switch effortlessly between the two styles.
The game will only appear on Playstation 2, Wii and DS and not on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Why Sierra has chosen to only release the game on these platforms is unclear. The version for PS2 and Wii is made by the English Eurocom, which is no stranger to translating movies into games. They previously made Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Ice Age 2: The Meltdown, Batman Begins, Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets and James Bond 007: NightFire. The version for the DS is made by the Canadian A2M.
