New interface for Steam will be available in beta in two weeks
Steam users will be able to test the game platform’s revamped interface from September 17. Valve will then make the design available as an open beta with the Home Library and Events page. New tools are immediately available for developers.
Valve says it will be finalizing the new design before it becomes available through the open beta. The update brings the changes announced in March to the game platform. Steam will have a Library Home, a home page for all games owned by a Steam user. Now the Library consists of a list, but the new version is a dynamic page with more information about the games. Recently played games are displayed larger.
Another innovation is the addition of an Events page. On it, developers can provide information about events that take place in their games. Developer tools to create events and announcements on Steam have been expanded. Developers can get started with that from now on.
It is not yet known when the renewed interface will finally come to all Steam users. Valve says it will provide more details about the new design in the run-up to the availability of the open beta.
